OUR PROPER RESPONSE

 

Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus... who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross. (Heb 12:1-2)

 

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS  (click on the underlined verses to read them)

His suffering and response to hostility is an example to us of how we are to live.  1 Pet 2:20-25   (See Christ's Example)

Iour suffering, we, like Jesus, should entrust ourselves to our Father.  1 Pet 2:20-25

We should live the life God set out for us with endurance, looking unto Jesus, who suffered and endured for the joy set before Him.  Heb 12:1-3

We should be willing to share His disgrace because we, too, seek the eternal city.  Heb 13:12-14

While bearing His reproach, we should continually be thankful and praising God that we have an eternal city.   Heb 13:12-15

We should overcome in this world, as Jesus did.  Then, we will share in His glory as He shares in His Father's glory.  Rev 3:21

We should seek His glory, not our own.  John 7:14-20

We should let God use our suffering to conform our minds and will to His mind and will.  1 Pet 4:1-2

If we desire eternal life, we must follow Him.  We must deny ourselves and accept suffering, as He did.  Matt 16:21-28,  Luke 9:21-26

Since He died for us, we should live for Him.  2 Cor 5:14-17

We should be kind, tenderhearted and forgiving, just as God in Christ is forgiving toward us.  Eph 4:32

Paul followed His example, as we should.  1 Cor 11:1

We should value Christ and the fellowship of His sufferings above all earthly possessions.  Phil 3:8-11

We should see suffering from God's eternal perspective, considering His purposes, not our own shortsighted aims.  Matt 16:21-23

If we say we abide in Him, we should walk as He walked.  1 John 2:5-6

We should follow His example of service.  John 13:5-15

We should follow His example of not pleasing ourselves, accepting one another, and becoming a servant.  Rom 15:2-8

 We should willingly love and lay down our lives  for others as He did for us. John 15:12-13  1 John 3:16-19, 1 John 4:10-11

Like Jesus, we should have no deceit in our mouth.    1 Pet 2:21-25

Like Jesus, we should not retaliate when people insult us.    1 Pet 2:20-25

As God is Holy, we should be holy in all our conduct.  1 Pet 1:15-16,  Lev 11:44-45

We should be merciful, just as God is merciful.  Luke 6:35-36

Since He was sacrificed for us, we should purge out malice and wickedness and hold onto sincerity and truth.  1 Cor 5:7-8

Since we are baptized into His death, we should live for God and not yield to sin.  Rom 6:1-14

His righteousness applies to those who walk according to the Spirit.  Therefore, we must not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.  Rom 8:3-4

Just as He was not of this world, so we are not of this world.  As God the Father sent Him into the world, so He sends us into the world.   John 17:13-19
